Why do crappy bands get honored with Be@rbricks? Seriously. Why wasn’t there ever a Jesus & Mary Chain Be@rbrick? Or a Bauhaus Be@rbrick? It was only earlier this year that we got Sex Pistols Kubricks, so there’s a lot of catching up to do. Instead, we get saddled with this? Zebrahead is a ska/punk/pop/rap group from Orange County, CA. They’ve made albums entitled the likes of Waste of Mind, Playmate of the Year, Stupid Fat Americans and the crowd-pleaser, MFZB (Mother Fucking Zebrahead Bitch!). Their songs were featured in the classic films, Dude Where’s My Car and Little Nicky. But whereas these points might add up to an American dismissal to yet another OC ska-punk five-piece, Zebrahead are kings in Japan. The band has been spending a lot of time in Japan since 2004, with the backing of Sony Japan behind them. Their latest album, Phoenix, was paired with the above Be@rbrick and is rumored to have quickly sold out. Afterall, it’s a pretty cool Be@rbrick.
