Yoskay Yamamoto’s Koibito – update

designers, vinyl

koibitos-by-yoskayYoskay Yamamoto posted an update on his upcoming Koibito toy. The left colorway is the Project:Gallery edition he did for his solo show. The middle is the standard colorway, and the right is described as the Munky King edition. The release date still hasn’t been arranged, but he said it will be available “around this fall.” There will also be a limited edition colorway for San Diego Comic-Con.

Before the new pictures were released, the standard colorway was my favorite. The silver eyes of the Project:Gallery version is a little creepy. Now I’m more enamored with the black and gold Munky King edition. I might wait to see the limited edition at Comic-Con before deciding on a favorite. If you like Yoskay’s work, pre-order a copy of Hi-Fructose, vol. 8. He’ll appear in that issue, and he posted a preview on his blog. It will be his first appearance in a magazine, so don’t miss it.

I'm a nerd who loves music, movies, graphic novels, and of course toys. I grew up in Los Angeles, and I currently live in the non-plastic part of Orange County. I'm a sucker for anything that is little and cute: plushies, Dunnys, Smorkin' Labbits, zipper pulls. My collection is dominated by Kozik and Uglydolls, and my latest obsession is IWG/Rocket World.

I dunno, I like the white/silver one. It’s understated and modern looking, like an iPod or iMac or mac book. Ok, nevermind, I hate it too.

I like the understated effect, but the shiny silver eyes remind me of poached fish. Not my favorite.
