Koibito by Yoskay Koibito prototype

Yoskay Yamamoto opened his first solo show, the upside of down, at Project:Gallery in Los Angeles. He unveiled the prototypes for Koibito, his upcoming toy from Munky King. The left is the project colorway, and the right will be the standard colorway (courtesy of his blog).

Koibito is based on one of his original paintings. In his own words: “Once upon a time I had a goldfish named Tuna. But he passed away because of my laziness and mistreatment….So I painted him for his memory…….”

The walking Koi is odd but fascinating. Yoskay Yamamoto is creating a lot of buzz, so this will be a popular collector’s item.

If you’d like to see more pictures from the solo exhibition, visit Project:Gallery’s Flickr page. For more pictures of Koibito and his other artwork, visit his myspace page.

Update: The standard colorway will be available at San Diego Comic-Con.

I'm a nerd who loves music, movies, graphic novels, and of course toys. I grew up in Los Angeles, and I currently live in the non-plastic part of Orange County. I'm a sucker for anything that is little and cute: plushies, Dunnys, Smorkin' Labbits, zipper pulls. My collection is dominated by Kozik and Uglydolls, and my latest obsession is IWG/Rocket World.
