Urban Art for Obama

If you were to go back in time (even just a few years) and ask yourself to imagine urban and street artists so passionately applying themselves to a US presidential campaign, could you? In less than a week, corresponding with the Democratic National Convention, Denver, Colorado’s Andenken Gallery will host Manifest Hope, a unique event spotlighting artists across the nation who have created work along the central themes of the progressive grass-roots movement: Hope Change, Progress, Unity and Patriotism.

The Manifest Hope Gallery will be open to the public from Monday August 25th through Thursday, August 28th between 10AM and 5PM. The gallery spans 10,000 sq. ft. and will draw together works as varied as the voices of the artists who created them. Manifest Hope will showcase some of the finest modern contemporary artists, acclaimed NY painters and sculptors, activated grass roots and street artists, and present the most widely recognized pieces seen throughout the 2008 presidential primary campaign, as well as newly commissioned works and previous works on loan from some of the United States top artists.

At this point, it is inarguable that art plays a pivotal role in creating cultural momentum. Artists who have donated work or created pieces specifically for the show include: Alex Pardee, Cypher 13, Date Farmers, David Choe, David Lanham, Gary Baseman, Grotesk, Mear One, Morning Breath and Munk One.
