Urban and Street Art at Phillips de Pury Auction

Beyond Toys, designers, events

There’s so much to say about the upcoming Phillips de Pury Urban Art auction, and now I finally got a moment (and some pictures) to appropriately blog it up. The Urban Art auction has three areas that will be of specific interest to toy fans:  Japanese and western kaiju, art toys and urban/street art. I wrote up the kaiju pieces here and the plush, busts, vinyl, customs and remixed art toys here. Urban and street art have plenty of crossover room for toy collectors. In fact, many street artists have done their thing on platform toys like Dunny and Qee. A little warning though–the prices for original fine art pieces are strictly suited to collectors and those for whom a weak American dollar is not a problem. The Street Art lots begin with lot 200 here. The auction takes place in London on September 6th and New York on October 25th. The complete online catalog is now available at phillipsdepury.com.
