Transformers T-Shirt Almost Gets Guy On No Fly List

Beyond Toys

When I was in middle school, a teacher made me take a hall pass to the bathroom and turn my Sex Pistols t-shirt inside out. There was nothing illicit about the design; it was merely the words “sex” or “pistols” that were somehow inflammatory in a classroom setting. Brad Jayakody, 30, of London just had a similar experience at Heathrow’s Terminal 5 after his Transformers T-shirt was deemed ‘offensive.’

According to the Daily Mail, a guard started joking with Jayakody about the Transformers character depicted on his French Connection T-shirt. But things got serious when Jayakody was told that he couldn’t board the plane with the shirt “since Megatron is holding a gun.”

Said Jayakody: “It’s a 40ft tall cartoon robot with a gun as an arm. There is no way this shirt is offensive in any way, and what I’m going to use the shirt to pretend I have a gun?”

Heathrow has a strict policy on garb depicting weaponry or containing rude words. They are currently investigating this case. Good luck with that, guys! [Via Geekologie]
