Sun Ra had it right when he told the world that ’space is the place’. We’ll be fleeing our rapidly-decaying planet soon enough, so here’s a mess of traveling companions to keep you sane among the myriad stars.

  1. Mars-1 Observer from Strangeco – $35 to $50. No space-based collection is complete without the transparent-domed creature called Mars-1 and his tiny, tiny head.
  2. Astronof by Peecol & Kidrobot – $10. Easily one of my favorite astro-folks, with all kinds of swappable parts with the other awesome Peecol toys.
  3. Astronaut Jesus by Doma - $50. Now, Jesus really IS your co-pilot. Those bumper stickers were prophetic indeed.
  4. Sentry Robot by Matias Vigliano x Doma – $110. Don’t let anyone tell you that you don’t need 10″ of hot robot protection.
  5. Dalek Spacebot Qees – $10. There’s no limit to what they’ll send into space.
  6. Junior Space Commander Print #5 from Letterpressed – $35. You could just eat him up. You know, if you run out of rations.
  7. IWG Astro Krieg by Rocket World – $42. In three human-destroying colorways.
  8. Secret Base Space Barbarian – $60. If he were a real space barbarian, his suit would be made out of wampa fur.
  9. Klaatu (and Gort) from Amok Time – $110. The original cinematic spaceman and his wacky robot pal.
  10. The American Astronaut DVD – $20. One of my favorite films of all time, and required watching if your space travel will be musical, incorporate space-barns or dance contests.
  11. ToyGraph Space Trooper – $70. A plethora of sold-out colorways, none of which you’d want to meet on the final frontier.

Another killer gift guide by Collin. How great do steampunk and stargazer toys all look in one composite? Kind of makes you rethink collecting based on artist or company and wanting to move toward a theme…

I’m all about the theme – especially since I read Toygiants, which changed my whole perspective on toys in general. Form, color, theme, imperfection – all exciting!
