Toy Box Apathy: Exclusive Custom Sneak Peeks

custom, vinyl

Toy Box Apathy is Las Vegas’ premier custom vinyl toy show. Over 30 artists submitted one-of-a-kind customs for the event, which opens Friday, June 6th at The Attic. If you can’t make it to the “Entertainment Capital of the World,” here’s a sneak peek of a couple of awesome pieces making their debut at the event.

Toy Box Apathy must feel like something of a homecoming for Bill BetsOvic (aka BetsO) since he used to reside in Las Vegas. In fact, before he left LV for SF, he made his mark around town. BetsO’s piece in the show is a custom Jersey Rat on the Toy2R Cucumouse platform. Raymond Choy just asked BetsO if he’d like to make a production run of the piece, so maybe we’ll see more of this guy in the future. Congrats, Betso!

Got these awesome pics straight from Mike Slobot who gave me this description of his 7″ custom Munny:

SlomunnyV4 is a Martian Agriculture Robot deployed to Mars before the first settlers arrived. His task was to begin growing desert plant species in an effort to increase the oxygen content of Mars. Even though Mars has been settled for many years now, SlomunnyV4 continues to go about his job with genuine happiness and good will towards Earthlings, Martians, and their respective animals. He happily spends his days bouncing and gliding over the Martian countryside using his wings for added stability in the low gravitational field of Mars. SlomunnyV4 has movable acrylic arms, stationary acrylic legs, a mirrored eye, and positionable glider wings.

Mike is taking custom requests, so if you’re looking for a detailed, articulated one-of-a-kind, contact him via his website.

Brian Colin used an 8″ Dunny for his entry into Toy Box Apathy. The Space Marauder is currently cruising through the USPS from Atlanta to Vegas. Brian’s customs are also available in his webstore, and last month he dropped mention on his site that he may be doing the package design and a toy design for an upcoming blind box series within the next year. Check out his blog for pics of The Space Marauder in progress and updates on his work.
