What happens when you cross Little Big Planet with Wall-E? Well, ‘9’, apparently.
I admit I knew nothing of this film until NECA started dropping images of the toys associated with it. Ostensibly, a bunch of sacks have to clean up a planet that we’ve, once again, seriously messed up with our McDonalds and SUVs and hi-definition handbags. It’s a little steampunk, it’s CGI, it’s dark, and I have my reservations – but I support anything that’ll bring me John C. Reilly. Especially as a talking sack. Which isn’t really a stretch for him. I love ya’, John.
NECA’s initial offering of figures will include the numbered characters 1, 7 and 9. They’ll run roughly 1:1 scale at 7” tall, and have undetermined articulation. The images seen here are of the original CGI characters, so just imagine Frodo’s voice coming out of the sack on the left, and Jennifer Connelly’s voice coming out of the right-most sack.
So, look for the movie on (and I’m not kidding) 9/9/2009. At least it’s not another Corpse Bride.

I’m really looking forward to this movie.
Tim Burton is just the producer. He didn’t
direct or write anything in the movie.
Here is a 10 minute short to give you a much
better idea what the movie is going to be like.

love the 7 and 1 models, but the smile on 9’s scares me.
