I hate to gardengeek-out so publicly, but this is really fantastic. It’s hard to say if this Zombie of Montclaire Moors is really any scarier than those cherub-cheeked resin children (including the Megan’s Law-baiting Peek-a-Boo Betty sculptures); I guess it’s just a matter of perspective.
British artist Alan Dickinson created this 31½”Wx19½”Dx8″H, 13-pound zombie out of resin exclusively for Toscano Home and Garden ($89.95). While this would look pretty rad surrounded by Venus Flytraps in my garden, I can also see these sculptures cheekily adorning the resting plots of zombie fans and film directors. Says Alan (who looks old-school goth in an undated picture):
The things which inspired me when I was a youth still influence me today – the best of comic book art, the Star Wars films, fantasy games like Dungeons and Dragons and graphic novels. I’ve always been fascinated by the myths and legends of the ancient world. I’m intrigued by the thought that these stories may well be based on real events, and wonder what they have to tell us about our origins and our destiny.
Screw destiny though. Having a zombie on your lawn tells Jehovah’s Witnesses to go bug your neighbor instead. Makes a great gift! [spied on Nerd Approved]
