I always thought the Village People would make an ideal set of dolls. Now Cupco! by the artist Lucas Temby and his wife Mayumi who reside in Sydney-Australia, have created a set including the cop, American Indian chief, cowboy, construction worker, military man, and of course leatherman in a plushie form. The set will be auctioned off this Saturday at Space Aid ’08 to benefit Queen Street Studio. Each doll is lovingly hand stitched, hand stuffed, hand screen printed, hand ironed and hand glued. All the heads are removable so you can mix and match, just think of the leatherman with a headdress. Free these macho men from having to stay at the Y.M.C.A, it’s time to take them home. Check out the auction here. (also the one of the far left is not a Village Person but rather a suicide bomber up for auction.
