Who doesn’t love Star Wars? If there is someone out there who doesn’t, well, I don’t want to meet them. Dov Kelemer and Sarah Jo Marks of DKE Toys are paying tribute to this beloved cultural phenomenon with the Vader Project where a wide (and a should add, amazing) variety of artists are customizing a 1:1 scale Darth Vader helmet.
Just announced, in addition to the major list of artists, thirteen Japanese designers signed on to make some Vader magic, they include interpretations by Bounty Hunter, Chino, Dehara, Devil Robots, Gargamel, Itokin Park, Mad Barbarians, Mori Chack, RealxHead, Secret Base, T9G, Touma, Usugrow and Yoko d’Holbachie.
“This could not be a timelier event,” Kelemer said. “The pop surrealist/ lowbrow/graffiti/designer art scene is exploding around us. A canvas is what you make it, from bunnies to cows to toilet seats. The ‘platform’ group show has been around, and we have seen it all.”
The show will be on display from July 19-21 and will include pert near 100 artists such as:
