Hot on the heels of my post on the Liberty Collection by Kidrobot jewelry collaborator Tarina Tarantino, I felt, nay, needed to do something on the recently released Tarina Tarantino Barbie doll. Mattel continues to push the envelope of the Barbie brand (see my recent write-up of the Barbie The Birds edition). This one, was released as part of the Barbie Gold Label Collection. This bedazzling and bejeweled incarnation uses the classic Barbie profile but with a couple big exceptions. This one just happens to don the Tarina Tarantino’s signature hot pink hair and Tarina designed accessories such as a glittery tiara, strings of faux pearls, princess-sized gem pendant and ballet ribbon-wrapped stilettos. Who would you like to see made into Barbie form next? My vote is for a Kozik Ken. Now that would be a doll both urban and traditional doll collectors would get behind.
