The Suicidal Banana

Mon, Jun 2, 2008

Misc, plastic, resin

Really, what do bananas have to be suicidal about? They grow in nice hot tropical places and just kinda hang out. Yes, eventually their end comes, but usualy in that hands of a hungry monkey, yummy smoothie or in a sweet cream pie. All fine fates for a fruit. Why does the very sad and depressed banana want to off herself? “Because she considers herself a failure in the world of fruits. She thinks she doesn’t have the beauty of a grape, the sweetness of a strawberry or the taste of a watermelon. Doesn’t have the cuteness of a cherry or the sweet scent of an apple. Being rich in potassium doesn’t make her feel any better”. Oh so sad.
Sergio Ng from Brazil (as spied on Toysrevil) has created The Suicidal Banana resin figure series each of which will be hand painted. Check out the banana that opted to hang themselves above and at the drawings of other fates such as death by gun, razor and hairdryer. No word on when the banana will be born, but we all know, it will die. (images from Toysrevil.net)
