San Francisco’s Infectious continues to bring in a killer collection of artists for your aesthetic adhesive endeavors. The latest recruit is Sket One. While not every artist’s portfolio makes sense rendered on a gadget skin, Sket’s works for me. I find myself blogging in public places a lot more lately, and I really wish people had these skins on their laptops. It would brighten my day. And yours. Go get some.
New Haven, Connecticut painter, illustrator and designer Sket-One was one of the first artists to customize the Dunny. He became hooked on the medium of designer vinyl toys and has since gone on to create iconic characters of his own including the Eggster and Ripple.
Part Michelin Man/Pillsbury Doughboy/Stay Puft Marshmallow man and all ice cream, Ripple is currently appearing on the gallery walls at Kidrobot’s new Miami shop. Everybody’s favorite animated ice cream cone is now also available to spruce up your laptop, iPhone or iPod, with prices starting from $14.99.

I used to really loathe people who blogged or tried to look important at their computers in public. I never got it until just recently. Try spending a year in your home office/closet and toward the end of it, it becomes like another cubicle. The only bitch about writing in cafes is the coffee is a lot more expensive than at home. But if you find a good spot with a good vibe, a coffee and a sandwich is a fair price for all those hours on their wi-fi. No doubt lots of people are sitting there looking for jobs these days.

Are you just trying to remind me that I got laid off and I should be looking for a job at a coffeshop on a laptop? I’m actually totally ok with not having a job in two weeks, now I can finally follow my dream of interpretative dance.

I figured Slobot would be good at the robot, but the worm works for me. I’m sure Sket doesn’t mind the way these comments are headed.
