action figures

I’m having a ‘Flash’ kind of day, so the announcement of DC Comics’ 1940 incarnation of The Flash in 1/6th scale tickles my tendons. DC Direct has already made a vast variety of their characters in this glorious scale, including 2 Batmen, the modern Flash, Catwoman, Aquaman, Batgirl and my favorite, Bizarro – but the original Flash is the very first Golden Age hero that their large scale line addresses.

This Flash probably has earned my affection with his resemblance to a black and white movie serial hero, impractical speed-hat and all. That thing’s a hindrance, man, but I suppose it’s the price we pay for an art deco fetish. This Flash isn’t known for his accessories, but his hat will be chrome-plated, and the lack of additional accouterments won’t stop him from costing $100, but it also won’t stop me from bringing him home.
