The Cyclops of Dufresne

As revealed over on the Kidrobot forums, Rich Dufresne of Imagination Asylum has recently collaborated with a great and unknown artist to begin work on a neat, cyclopean resin figure that harkens back to the exciting days of Ninja Turtles and Earthworm Jim. That mysterious artist happens to be his son, and his vision rivals that of some of our better toy designers. Without a doubt and with complete honesty, this is why I love designer toys. The colorways have not yet been determined, aside from a black and white version. I’m still partial to the neon green blurrily pictured here.

Working from a basic sculpt by his 14-year old son, Rich added a variety of details and plans on releasing a bunch of the 3″ figures with hand detailing around the beginning of the new year. They’ll be priced in the $15 to $25 range, and all proceeds will go towards buying Rich’s son a new computer, which he’ll hopefully use to design more neat toys. It’s the innocence of youth that we design and collect from, so it’s a great opportunity to tap it at its most genuine.

More details, and less nebulous photos, to come.

    Holy Crap!!!
This was a surprise to us and an honor. We will have better pics soon. As of today 10 figures are ready to go. We are working in Photoshop to finalize the pupils for the eye. We will send you any info you’d like for a follow up. This made Jeremy’s day as he was home sick from school. Working with my son creating toys is a dream come true. the kicker is both he and my daughter Ashley want to create toys and video games. Both love toys, action figures, and vinyl art toys. Consider your self the owner of a florescent green Cyclops for this wonderful and appreciated honor!!

    Sincerely,

    Rich Dufresne, Imagination Asylum
