Following quite the fever pitch, Red Hot Robot opened its doors for the Resin Collective, and the red dots started flying. Store owner Jason Kiningham was way ahead of the curve curating this show, which featured standout work from today and tomorrow's hottest resin designers. Even a local Phoenix rag covered the show, re-interpreting Jason's "lowbro" lingo as "way cooler than that boring museum crap" in their article, Anti-Toy Story. Those familiar red (sold) dots were quickly adhered to Cris Rose's Rotund's Romp, Cris and Okkle's Happy Joy Bot, Le Merde's Vanfar, Hello, Brute's Danny, Makkinoso's Evil Spike, WeKillYou's William Palerne and pretty much all pieces by Arbito and 2Petalrose. The dotting continued into the night, as fans circled around the display and marveled at the diversity of the medium.

Uamou is currently offering a limited edition of signed and illustrated Dunnys from the UK Series at her webshop. This is quite cool because when I first saw her production figure for this series, I was underwhelmed. We love Uamou [tagged] for her own characters’ cuteness and simplicity, but somehow the plaftorm figure seemed unfinished. [...]

WOW. I repeat: WOW. Beginning April 11th, Red Hot Robot is hosting an unbelievable group show of resin toys. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to say this about a group show of this size before, but I’m proud to say I’ve written a little something about every artist on this roster. So either [...]

I may not be homeless, but I am a bag lady. I love a clutch, a hand bag, a flirty purse. So needless to say when I saw the Capsule Bag - a collaboration between Uamou and El Coco Loco – I noticed just a wee bit of drool trickling from the corner of [...]

Have a little heart. A little Heart of Uamou that is. These figures were designed by artist Ayako Takagi and have been released in very limited and a very exclusive run of the Heart of Uamou. How exclusive? These were only made in a run of thirty, yes thirty! This new version on Uamou is beautifully [...]

In Tokyo, they have cat cafes. If you’re sad or stressed, you can go there and sink into what I can only imagine as the equivalent to the ball-pit at Chuck E Cheese, but with fur and tea. I peeped a roomful of Uamou on Ayako Takagi’s Flickr page, and though sleek and chic, it [...]

It was just in July that I posted about some new Uamou figures (which were new to me at the time) and wrote, “Keep an eye on this artist for coolness incarnate.” In a short time, Ayako Takagi really delivered. The cute travelling alien, Uamou and ghostly companion, Boo, are back in some sweet colorways: [...]

Here’s someone and something who is new to me, but has been around for years: Ayako Takagi’s Uamou. Ayako grew up in Japan, but moved to London to study art. Some of her influences include Archer Prewitt, Jim Woodring, Sigeru Mizuki and Doraemon. She also collects James Jarvis, Frank Kozik, Kaws, Gary Baseman, Tim Biskup [...]
