Following quite the fever pitch, Red Hot Robot opened its doors for the Resin Collective, and the red dots started flying. Store owner Jason Kiningham was way ahead of the curve curating this show, which featured standout work from today and tomorrow's hottest resin designers. Even a local Phoenix rag covered the show, re-interpreting Jason's "lowbro" lingo as "way cooler than that boring museum crap" in their article, Anti-Toy Story. Those familiar red (sold) dots were quickly adhered to Cris Rose's Rotund's Romp, Cris and Okkle's Happy Joy Bot, Le Merde's Vanfar, Hello, Brute's Danny, Makkinoso's Evil Spike, WeKillYou's William Palerne and pretty much all pieces by Arbito and 2Petalrose. The dotting continued into the night, as fans circled around the display and marveled at the diversity of the medium.

No self-respecting vinyl toy convention can go on without a custom show, and VTN didn’t disappoint with a selection of 15-inch interpretations of its mascot, Vinnie. For such a giant and rotund original, the asking prices–even during the economic recession that was on everyone’s mind during the event–were pretty great. Really nice cartoony work that [...]

Much like the Beastie Boys (except different), Scott Tolleson’s Doc Von Block be illin’. Following the original Doc Von Block seen at SDCC 08, Scott and Julie B of Pretty in Plastic are releasing three colorways: natural, x-ray and my personal favorite, illin’ green. Below are photos of factory paintmaster samples from Scott and Julie’s [...]

The other day, I was walking along, minding my own business, in a very family friendly neighborhood (read=lots of nannies and moms with strollers). I was slowly sipped my low-fat mocha with a double shot of espresso when, boom!, bam!, pow! I got hit in the shins by a little devil on wheels in the [...]
