Our first vinyl custoMONDAY artist we featured was a fan favorite (and one of my personal favorite artists in the scene), OsirisOrion, aka Robert Ingellis. I have been working with OsirisOrion for a few months now to produce a ToyCyte line of customs and today we get to debut them in our store! All dolled up [...]

Like a pulsating, wild brain emerging from its natural habitat amid the undergrowth of the Amazonian rain forest, OsirisOrion’s entry into the Multiple Personalities 2 arrives! Even without his usual hyper-textured surfaces and build-ups, OsirisOrion’s steady hand does a beautiful job capturing the same awesome intricacies. I still enjoy seeing the simple charm of a [...]

Perhaps they saw his awesome Bop Dragon custom for the It Came From Skullbrain show? The run will consist of 22 Bop Dragons: 7 will be one colorway (TBA), 7 another colorway [...]

This weekend saw the opening of a custom toy show based around the imagery of Japanese toys. It Came From Skullbrain profiled the talent (much of it local) from the Skullbrain forum, an off-shoot of San Francisco's Super7, which hosted the event. The night was already off to a great start when a good old Japantown-style fight broke out in front of Super7 shortly before doors. But to truly appreciate your toy art in the most surreal way possible, you need four guys in full KISS regalia.

Last night, a variety of homegrown Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo mutations hit San Francisco’s Rocket World for the first I.W.G. custom show. If you’ve never been to Rocket World (aka T.A.D. Gear), you owe it to yourself to visit Patrick Ma’s haven for high end adventure gear and designer toys. Enter the garage doors to one [...]

As a holiday that’s all about disguise and transformation, Halloween shares a natural association with the custom toy world. We toy artists essentially spend the entire year dressing up our Munnys and Think-Ups and MadLs and sending them out into the world, so the conjunction of these very actions with the day of Halloween was [...]

If one-offs get you off, OsirisOrion sends us word that he’s been working on a hand-made series of 3″ Dunnys called HemoGoblins. Not unlike Kidrobot’s Dunny series, these are blind packaged, and are limited to 15 as-yet-unseen designs. If you check out his stuff, you’ll notice an intense fixation on winding, twisting, biological and asymmetrical [...]

Rob Ingellis aka OsirisOrion has a new website that features his custom toys, drawings, and other artwork. His latest custom toy project are two submissions for the House of Liu Custom Show at APW Gallery. DiDi the Leviathan and MeiDusa transplant his horror-inspired artwork onto Crazy Label’s House of Liu toys. They’re creepy but cute. [...]
