30 CUSTOMS BY 30 ARTISTS: Munny Auction for the Children of Cambodia

It’s nice to have talented friends, and it’s even nicer to use artistic output as a medium to raise money for people who need it. Kidrobot’s Toy Baroness, Nichole, tasked 30 friends with transforming Munnys into clothes, books and bikes for the children of Cambodia. No, not literally (although Sket One did turn vinyl into [...]

Artoyz Elements Alpha Series Coming Soon!

Not all blind-box series are created equal, and Artoyz Elements Alpha Series stands out among the pack for its unique platform, roster of talented artists, how each artist has used the platform and the way the company is distributing the series with both collectors and casual fans in mind. You already know that the set of 20 figures includes: SKWAK, Steph Cop, RUN, Pulco Mayo, Koralie, KOA, Grems, Flying Fortress, Jon Burgerman, ARTIZARNAL, Superdeux, NYNO, MIST, iLK, YOKAIKAI, Nathan Jurevicius, GREGOS (in 3D!) and Supakitch. Artoyz Elements Alpha Series Puts the Art Back in Art Toys: Part Deux

I'm really happy with the way Artoyz decided to distribute this series. They agreed that it's unfair to expect collectors to buy multiple cases of toys to assemble an entire series. So far, from top to bottom, here are the designs by SKWAK, Steph Cop, RUN, Pulco Mayo, Koralie, KOA, Grems, Flying Fortress, Jon Burgerman, ARTIZARNAL, Superdeux, NYNO, MIST, iLK, YOKAIKAI, Nathan Jurevicius, GREGOS (in 3D!) and Supakitch. If you look back through our other posts on the Artoyz Elements Alpha Series, you might get a clue as to who those rare figures could be...

Letter Pressed Ensures Vinyl Toy Artists Leave a Lasting Impression

I've been expounding the virtues of Letter Pressed for a while. Their Artist Series reads like a Who's Who of the vinyl toy community: Joe Ledbetter, Jon Burgerman, Nathan Jurevicius, Bwana Spoons... In theory, every one of us should own something letterpressed. In practice, as with paint colors and Venetian blinds, you need to see a sample. I'm holding some such items. While I want my words to convey the elegance of the paper and the clean, vibrant impression of the art, you need to touch these for yourself. To that end, Letter Pressed's Mark Begley will provide one lucky reader with a pack of hand-numbered Cool It letterpressed cards by Le Merde. To win it...

Win the Toys Are Us: Director’s Cut DVD!

Beyond seeing toys on your television and being able to call out, "I have that," Toys Are Us is interesting on a number of levels. For instance, the interviews with Frank Kozik and Brian Flynn are particularly educational, from their perspectives on who gets "O.G." credit for the designer vinyl movement (hint: it's not Michael Lau) to some choice words for and against extended colorways.
