Not all blind-box series are created equal, and Artoyz Elements Alpha Series stands out among the pack for its unique platform, roster of talented artists, how each artist has used the platform and the way the company is distributing the series with both collectors and casual fans in mind. You already know that the set of 20 figures includes: SKWAK, Steph Cop, RUN, Pulco Mayo, Koralie, KOA, Grems, Flying Fortress, Jon Burgerman, ARTIZARNAL, Superdeux, NYNO, MIST, iLK, YOKAIKAI, Nathan Jurevicius, GREGOS (in 3D!) and Supakitch. Now, Artoyz has now revealed that the rare figures are...

I'm really happy with the way Artoyz decided to distribute this series. They agreed that it's unfair to expect collectors to buy multiple cases of toys to assemble an entire series. So far, from top to bottom, here are the designs by SKWAK, Steph Cop, RUN, Pulco Mayo, Koralie, KOA, Grems, Flying Fortress, Jon Burgerman, ARTIZARNAL, Superdeux, NYNO, MIST, iLK, YOKAIKAI, Nathan Jurevicius, GREGOS (in 3D!) and Supakitch. If you look back through our other posts on the Artoyz Elements Alpha Series, you might get a clue as to who those rare figures could be...

OK, so I’ve been a bit harsh on blind box series of late, but here’s one I’d buy blind, deaf and mute. ARTOYZ is starting to drop preview pics of several of the characters comprising their forthcoming Elements Alpha Series on their Flickr set. First up are front/back photos of Elements by MIST, iLK, NYNO [...]

To celebrate Chinese New Year, Bonustoyz is releasing the final colorway of MIST’s Goldorus. Limited to 49 numbered pieces, this follows up last November’s multi-colored Goldorus with a colorway worth its namesake: AllGold24K. When the gold Goldorus goes on sale Sunday, January 25th (European timing), they will also make available 19 AllBlack Goldoruses. Customers who [...]

Whether or not you cared for French artist MIST’s Kidrobot Debilz mini-figures (I didn’t), take another look at MIST when his characters are being produced by Bonustoyz. From the multi-color colorway (check the orange and yellow horns) to the spring-loaded fist action, this is a great signature piece–and one which I can definitely marvel at [...]

Master-customizer (who is soon to release some original toys), Phu!, is sending in the troops to tonight’s custom Mad*L show at LIFT. As usual, Phu! combines debris into details: The 10-inch platform figure was enhanced with cardboard, cable ties, brass rivets, broken toy parts, disposable plastic spoons, hose clamps, felt, googles, plastic beads, bottle [...]

Awesome French webzine, Guillotine, made it to Barcelona for the Bread and Butter exhibition. They’re bringing us some great pics to supplement the coverage that Artoyz provided yesterday of their upcoming figures Kid Onion and Crazy Monkey. Easy Hey’s Kid Onion figure has 4 multi-hued colorways, while Bunka’s Crazy Monkey is shown in pink, blue, [...]

Did you read Sunny’s post on the Christie’s Pop Culture auction? A pair of Kidrobot Fatcaps customized by Tilt and Mist (along with a painted canvas) are expected to sell for between $8,000 to $1,0000. Let’s see…I just bought one of the new Fatcaps for $8. A few bucks for supplies and I’m on my [...]

Jeremy didn’t really care for a few of KidRobot’s June releases, but I really like Mist’s Debilz. I have a few of Mists’s Dunnys, and I like the one he did for the French Dunny series. I’ll probably collect a few of the Debilz. I want the red demon on the far right; anything with [...]

June’s new releases from Kidrobot are more kid than robot. Specifically, there’s hardly anything “mad” or “barbarian” about Mad Barbarians Tokidoki-looking Shake a Tongue series, and Mist’s Debilz could have used some more fire, IMO. The discussion on the Octane3 forums isn’t particularly favorable, with this quip pretty much summing up my feelings: “i [...]
