The always-anticipated Luke Chueh and the always-interesting Thomas Han will get together for a joint-show opening March 20th at Corey Helford Gallery. Luke’s first solo show at the Culver City gallery features paintings and drawings that are “as sweet as they are vicious. Adorable bears, monkeys and rabbits find themselves in disturbing and ironic narratives [...]

I’m kind of on the fence with this one. On the one hand, it’s a rabbit (good) by Luke Chueh (great), and on the other hand, it’s nostalgic to the Power Rangers (eh…) Response to this KFGU piece on some of the forums is luke warm at best, with Cypher Lazer of Vinyl Requiem adding [...]

Amanda Visell had one of the handful of sculptural pieces, which was in the company of a pair of swans by Scott Radke and a complex game of cat and mouse by Daniel Elson. Luke Chueh, Joe Ledbetter, Anthony Ausgang, Peek-a-boo and Thomas Han brought the familiar names and the big colors. Peter Gronquist and Alex Pardee upped the creepy ante...

Gallery1988 just announced its upcoming exhibition, a tradition at the venue: “The Vivisect Playset (Round 5).” For five years now, Luke Chueh and Gallery 1988 curated and hosted The Vivisect Playset, an art show featuring artists who regularly employed animal characters in their work to illustrate the human condition. Luke Chueh’s Shithead metal-cast figure by FullyVisual goes on sale tomorrow, Tuesday, October 21st at 11AM PST for $130 here. In spite (or perhaps because?) of this piece being a severed monkey’s head crowned with a pile of feces, there is a lot of interest in the figure. As with other FullyVisual releases, this is [...]

Sketch for Change is a project comprised of sketches by Joe Ledbetter, Tim Biskup, Amanda Visell, Jeff Soto, Bob Dob, Gary Baseman, Thomas Han, Shag, Glenn Barr, Luke Chueh and about a dozen other artists culled from the 'lowbrow' scene. The idea was cooked up by a group of friends in Los Angeles looking for unique ways to help raise funds for Barack Obama's Campaign for Change. The 21 artists were affiliated with the recent Baby Tattooville art retreat.

So, it looks like you’ll be getting your new piece of Luke Chueh artwork at your local Amoeba or Virgin Megastore. Luke Chueh has graciously shared his genius with the lads from Fall Out Boy. He did the illustration for their new album Folie A Deux. Regardless if you are a fan of FOB, the [...]

Up for sale on the mighty eBay is [...]

At my last trip to Munky King, I noticed that they had some new t-shirts on display. The new designs are part of Munky King’s artist series. I wasn’t one of the lucky ones who was able to purchase Luke Chueh’s Possessed, so I really like these designs. I’m not a fan of the Old [...]

I’ve been waiting for Munky King to release their signing schedule for San Diego Comic-Con. The schedule is finally online at their Comic-Con page. The major dilemma is whether Hana and crew will be able to beat San Diego traffic and make it to Luke Chueh’s signing on time. Thursday 7/24 10:30am-12:30pm Pocket Full of Monsters 1pm – [...]

Munky King now has a San Diego Comic-Con page on their website. The page lists all of their Comic-Con exclusives, and now we have a better look at the Mecha Sad Bear: Clear that I spotted at Munky King [blogged]. “His own art wasn’t enough anymore. Art itself wasn’t enough anymore. But he knew it was the answer…he needed a little help.” You can hit the jump and watch a stop motion animation primer on The Art Army or you can first read through as I pick Mike Leavitt’s brain. Mike makes art. Interactive art. [...]
