Depending on how you’re experiencing the current recession, this is either very good news or very bad news: Kidrobot is doing an epic reissue of Huck Gee’s Series 1 Skullhead Dunny, and they’ve upped the ante. Not only will the rare, iconic Dunny be reissued, but it’s been blown up to 20 inches in size, [...]

If you are the rare bird who was put off by all the violence in those carefully-crafted weapons-n-ammo accessories of recent Huck Gee customs, you’re in luck: Huck is showing off his softer side with a series of ten SkullBunny figures. This little guy has been sitting on the backburner for a year or so, trying [...]

Here at ToyCyte we do enjoy a good bit of scandal, so thanks to the anonymous informant who brought this situation to our attention. While Dunnys, Qees and Be@rbricks have been blackmarket bootlegged for years, it’s rare to see a specific Dunny plagiarized and used for such an unrelated purpose. As is currently unfolding here [...]

I just spied a couple cool photos from “the making of” Huck Gee’s Minosu Ushi-Oni & The Golden Bull on Huck’s Flickr. The Golden Bull is an original vinyl sculpt by Huck and the yoke is made of walnut. There are just ten of these beauties that are sure to take down eBay servers in [...]

Remember our little seated Munny prank last week? Huck Gee’s Taurus was just posted on the Kidrobot Forums (thanks Justin!). It’s like a Munny/Labbit mash-up in regal goldtones and woodgrain. Awesome, of course. I just refreshed my inbox and here’s the full info from Huck: The Legend of Minosu Ushi-Oni & The Golden Bull We revisit [...]

OK, hang onto your seats, literally. I just stumbled upon the next incarnation of “The Greatest Do It Yourself Toy.” The Seated Munny photo above was accidentally leaked with some other images. I recognized the cutting mat and immediately contacted Huck Gee. At first, he denied any knowledge of the Seated Munny. But after some [...]

Huck Gee is doing some spring-cleaning and his trash is your treasure. For instance, he’s got two actual US navy practice bombs, emblazoned with his iconic Skullhead. (FYI, the bombs are dummies, dummy.) Each bomb is hand-painted and signed and can be yours for $1,200 + $14.11 ground shipping. Check out Huck’s eBay store for [...]

Collector. Ector. Ector. Ector. She’s got herself a Huck Gee dunny! This image was on the Huffington Post, but I spied it on Huck’s Twitter. I read somewhere that Rihanna is a big art collector. In terms of coolness points, I think that a background nod from Rihanna kind of kicks the ass off an [...]

On Monday, we began a conversation about blind box toys, and we started at the source: the toy companies. Kidrobot and MINDstyle both said that their fans enjoy the blind box experience. On Tuesday, we talked to the fans and reaction was split: with casual fans liking the fun experience and serious collectors experiencing the blind frustration. Wednesday’s topic was toy stores--largely in favor of blind boxes, but also presenting alternatives. That got me wondering: Do toy artists enjoy the blind box experience? Here are Doktor A, Joe Ledbetter, David Horvath, Jon Burgerman, MCA, Huck Gee, Sket One and Buff Monster (who have over 20 blind box series between them) on the topic.

During yesterday’s segment, we profiled designer toy companies for our report on blind boxes. Today, it's all about the end users of blind boxes: the fans. Toy fans echo the diversity of the toys. We enjoy different aesthetics and buying styles. Some people care about edition size; some don't. Some fans like vinyl; some prefer resin. But all of us are a little crazy. We're in an economic recession, and we're buying toys. Let's look at what toy fans want and the possible ways of getting it.

Unless you were living under a rock, you were aware of the debacle that was accidental distribution of Kidrobot Series 5 Dunny’s GTs. There was a lot of back and forth about this issue: Namecalling, suspensions, anger, humor, but like most things, the issue primarily faded until some real news came forth. Straight from Huck [...]

I entered the shop to find rows of sneakers and toys! It was quite dangerous letting me step into such a shop, since I have a passion for both. Most of the pieces that were on display were created by Frank Kozik. Some of the other pieces that were available at the shop included some I haven't seen sold at retail in a while, more specifically: Huck Gee's Mama's Boy GID qee.

With a note from The Baroness on the KR Forums and the rhetorical question “Well, someone screwed up didn’t they?” in Huck Gee’s newsletter, the fiasco that was the mishandling of the Dunny Series 5 Golden Tickets draws to an anti-climactic close. It seems the original Golden Ticket Dunnys from Series 5 were accidentally distributed [...]
