ESC-Toy’s Exclusive Pink Chocolate Waffle Micci

As something of a food-toy gourmand, I’m pleased to see that Erick Scarecrow’s recently-released Waffle Micci is getting a variation, and an adorably pink one at that. ESC-Toy is no stranger to dropping the paint variants month after month, so I’m curious to see what’s next. A ‘burnt’ colorway? Frozen? Blueberry? While I’ve never seen a [...]

ESC-Toy Debuts The Sticky Waffle Micci

Another day, another toy I’m inclined to eat just as readily as I’d display it. Benevolent toy giant Erick Scarecrow is all set to debut the charmingly delicious foodstuff-themed 6” Waffle Micci that we saw at NYCC. The Mousey will be appearing at 11 AM (New York time) on May 1st, and the edition size has [...]

New York Comic Con 09 Roundup

NYCC was a nearly incomprehensible miasma of crowds and excitement and getting whapped in the shoulder by uncareful cameramen, but I survived the whole ordeal with bruised body intact. After a few technical delays, I'm finally home again, here to report on the onslaught of awesome. Read on for highlights from David Foox, Bob Conge, GoHero, Erick Scarecrow, Jure Gavran, Jared Deal, Eric Nocella, kaNO, Nakanari, NEMO and Brent Nolasco.

Erick Scarecrow / Esc-Toy at NYCC 09

Mr. Erick Scarecrow is probably one of the most zen, amicable people I’ve ever met. Pardon me for fawning, but for such a prolific artist to be so relaxed and obviously in love with his craft is genuinely refreshing. I don’t know how he does it, but he seems to have found a center in [...]

Daphne Lage x Erick Scarecrow Silvermain at NYCC 09

This means that although we previously reported that Silvermain would be on display as a prototype at NYCC 09, now you can actually buy the figure. This is the first in a series [...]

A Second Chance At Soopa Maria Sato

As a total sucka for anything even remotely related to the all-consuming video games of my youth, I was a bit jealous that I’d never have the chance to grab on of Erick Scarecrow’s limited-to-25, Soopa Maria Sato figures – obtainable only if you got a coin with a magic number on it, were willing [...]

Erick Scarecrow’s Muraida Attack & Chelly Chainsaw

January 2nd, 2009, Scarecrow’s ‘Muraida Attack’ Giclée (which is French for ’snooty inkjet’) will drop at his eBay shop, at a cost of $65. The [...]

Vinnie the VTN Mascot Custom Show

No self-respecting vinyl toy convention can go on without a custom show, and VTN didn’t disappoint with a selection of 15-inch interpretations of its mascot, Vinnie. For such a giant and rotund original, the asking prices–even during the economic recession that was on everyone’s mind during the event–were pretty great. Really nice cartoony work that [...]

Erick Scarecrow’s Muraida Defaces Your Property

In a few weeks, the world will have one more anthropomorphic spraypaint can, and it shall be called Muraida. Coming from the prolific toy wizards over at Erick Scarecrow’s Esc-Toy Ltd., the kaiju-lookin’ Muraida destroys your city with an uncontrollable green ooze, gigantic claws, and an unhealthy dose of CFCs. Which of these three is [...]

Erick Scarecrow Black Friday Midnight Snack Release

Erick Scarecrow likes to tease us. Yesterday, Erick sent us an email with just the attachment above. I wrote him back, begging, nay pleading, with him for more juicy details. What? When? How? Why? His reply: “I can’t reveal much now other than it’s going to be a steal!” Well, so far, in these [...]

The 2008 US Presidential Election will be a historic and groundbreaking event. While the race and gender of the candidates is unprecedented, so is the huge outpouring of art. The latter can be seen tonight in NYC at ToyTokyo's The Showroom where Jailbreak Toys presents an evening of customized Barack Obama action figures by Brin Berliner, Damion Silver, Bigfoot, Denise Despirito, Leecifer, kaNO, Brent Nolasco, Matt Hawkins, Brian Colin, Dionysus Cho, Erick Scarecrow Jeaux Janovsky and more. Regardless of how you lean politically, a show of this nature has never before been attempted. All figures will be for sale with proceeds going to fund the Campaign for Change. You can look back at all the coverage of ART + ACTION = Obama 08 here, or scroll down for our exclusive pictorial. ToyCyte's NYC correspondent will be bringing us coverage of the show, so stay tuned. Tonight's event begins at 7PM EST. There's a rumor that Amber, the Obama Girl, may make an appearance. Wish I could be there.
