Plush Monsters Descend on San Francisco: A Virtual Tour

This was one of the most "pure fun" art shows I've seen in a while. It must be pretty hard to hang plush in a gallery setting, but they pulled it off with good lighting and a cool backdrop. Credit to Katie and G1988 for an awesome show and inviting me in early to take pictures. Art toys abounded, but no one was taking themselves too seriously between the spooky muzak and Kaiju Big Battel's psychedelic presence. It's also always great to see (in person) art by international designers I write about (like Tim Tsui, the inimitable Doktor A and DGPH to name a few), and it's also nice to watch local artists like Leecifer and Anna Chambers have their pieces snatched up quickly. For those who couldn't make it (the show runs through November 1st), enjoy a virtual tour below.

Well,  that wasn’t the only South American celebration of the Nike Sportwear line [...]

Black & White Freedrawings Presents a Global Doodle Collaboration

The best part of writing about toys isn’t always the toys themselves. Often, the toy is just one platform within a rich mediascape in which designers make their marks. These days, urban and pop artists design skate desks, clothing and housewares. I recently blogged about Infectious car art and Pop Clings wall decals and noticed [...]

Villains…we love to hate them. Every story needs a proper villain, and sometimes the villain can outshine the hero. An upcoming group show at Pink Ghost Gallery explores our fascination with villains. Villians & More Villians opens on June 21, and the reception starts at 7pm. The gallery will provide free cupcakes and music by [...]

Even if your living room is made up of 5 Detolfs and a Karlstad, it doesn’t have to look like an IKEA catalog. Pop Cling aims to do for your house what Infectious [blogged] is doing for your car: that is, cover its plain and ordinary surfaces with vinyl slices of urban and pop art. [...]

I read about this great project [via Clutter in the UK] too late to get in on it. Selling was to start today at 9PM, and I thought, great I’ve got several hours to scrape up £25. Too bad that’s 9PM GMT. Everything was gone by 9AM PST (when I checked), if not much earlier. However, [...]

I heart Moo.com. In the parlance of Wired Magazine: Hallmark = Expired E-cards = Tired Moo cards = Wired What are Moo cards? With a clean and user-friendly interface, UK-based Moo.com lets you make your own mini business cards, greeting cards, note cards, postcards and sticker books. They offer a selection of readymade products by urban designers, as well [...]
