Shaman of the Vulturites Teddy Troop by Brian Colin

Check out how intense this mutha is. I knew that those Teddy Troops, with their hidden eyes and giant, concealing hats were up to something, and this guy is up to the worst. You can’t tell where he ends and his vulture companion begins – and that’s awesome. I’ve watched the progress as Brian Colin whipped [...]

Last night, a variety of homegrown Insurgents Wilderness Gruppo mutations hit San Francisco’s Rocket World for the first I.W.G. custom show. If you’ve never been to Rocket World (aka T.A.D. Gear), you owe it to yourself to visit Patrick Ma’s haven for high end adventure gear and designer toys. Enter the garage doors to one [...]

Win Brian Colin’s Custom BambooZoo on Twitter

I’m still on the fence about twitter. It’s hard enough to have a conversation with a couple people, let alone hundreds. However, some people have found good use for the technology. Case in point: Brian Colin. This Friday, he’s giving away “Lil Bit”, his custom BambooZoo, to one lucky twitter follower.  The winner will be [...]

Mr. Jon Paul Kaiser takes the IWG rhinoform and transforms him, completely without the use of color, into a Spider-Man villain. Of all things. Coincidentally, the villain in question is The Rhino, who is already ridiculously [...]

Brian Colin’s Custom BambooZoos

Brian Colin sent me one of the characters from his custom BambooZoo series, and now you, too, can catch a creature. Pairing Brian’s chunky monster style with Peskimo’s cute platform design is indeed a strange beast. He has rendered the original Kidrobot series unrecognizable and retitled it “Creatures from the Valley of Despair.” If you [...]

ART + ACTION = Obama 08 Custom Toy Show TONIGHT!

The 2008 US Presidential Election will be a historic and groundbreaking event. While the race and gender of the candidates is unprecedented, so is the huge outpouring of art. The latter can be seen tonight in NYC at ToyTokyo's The Showroom where Jailbreak Toys presents an evening of customized Barack Obama action figures by Brin Berliner, Damion Silver, Bigfoot, Denise Despirito, Leecifer, kaNO, Brent Nolasco, Matt Hawkins, Brian Colin, Dionysus Cho, Erick Scarecrow Jeaux Janovsky and more. You can look back at all the coverage of ART + ACTION = Obama 08 here, or scroll down for our exclusive pictorial. ToyCyte's NYC correspondent will be bringing us coverage of the show, so stay tuned. Brian Colin Codedecoinc Custom Dunny Series 2

I really dig seeing the full extension of the DIY entrepreneurial spirit. Case in point: Artists and customizers who release an entire series of custom Dunny figures, blind-box packaging and all. This is the second custom Dunny series for artist Brian Colin, who uses acrylics, sculpy and spray varnish to achieve his signature style. The [...]
