30 CUSTOMS BY 30 ARTISTS: Munny Auction for the Children of Cambodia

It’s nice to have talented friends, and it’s even nicer to use artistic output as a medium to raise money for people who need it. Kidrobot’s Toy Baroness, Nichole, tasked 30 friends with transforming Munnys into clothes, books and bikes for the children of Cambodia. No, not literally (although Sket One did turn vinyl into [...]

Upper Playground is giving away an Alex Pardee painting, “The Trap.”  The painting is signed by Alex  and at 6 feet by 4 feet, it is almost as tall (and with way more personality) as that NBA tool they had on last night’s episode of The Millionaire Matchmaker.  You, too, can feel like a baller [...]

Alex Pardee and ZEROFRIENDS at Wondercon 2009

Shotgun Sean was repping at Wondercon for Alex Pardee and the ZEROFRIENDS Collective. Alex was on a lot of people’s minds at the convention, whether for his fine art Watchmen giclee print (shown below, better pic here) or his upcoming Walrus Rider toy. I believe Sean knows what other colorways we’ll be seeing of the [...]

I don’t like pink and I don’t like teal, but I LOVE this figure. This will be one of a couple colorways, so [...]

WATCHMEN Exclusive Fine Art Print by Alex Pardee

When Alex Pardee is a fan of a pop culture franchise, he does it justice. This could be anything from the Batman giclee he did for APE, some love for Conan the Barbarian, a couple of cult movie prints, or a secret passion for Cyndi Lauper. Alex has had a long-standing relationship to Alan Moore’s [...]

Alex Pardee’s Letters From Digested Children Solo Show

Last night, Alex Pardee opened his Letters From Digested Children solo show at San Francisco's FIFTY24SF. The central theme of the exhibition is missing children who have been eaten by monsters. Since monsters have slow digestive systems, many of the children are still alive inside their stomachs. While the children wait for salvation, they scrawl S.O.S. letters. Alex collected these missives, along with police reports and portraits of some of the "more popular" monsters, transforming the gallery into a walk-in milk carton. This is concept art and is best experienced to be appreciated. For our readers around the globe, I'll try to explain. Take Veronica Pickles, for example. She was last seen by a neighbor with an overactive bladder heading toward a Castle Greyskull-like structure known as The Mouth. When the ground "shook like Michael J. Fox," the neighbor called the Cardboard City police. Here, Alex Pardee uses his entire arsenal: signature monster art with great storytelling and a generous peppering of pop culture.

Alex Pardee’s Upcoming Figures from Upper Playground

In the back of our heads, we've been biding our time and waiting for a toy. Sure, there's been some plush and a platform Dunny and Gwin, but what we really wanted was to see some of Alex's original characters leap into the third dimension of vinyl. Thanks to Upper Playground, we're going to get it.
