In honor of Super7 turning seven on, you guessed it, the 7th, the toy shop was converted into Flynn’s Arcade from Tron. 80’s arcade games lined the wall as hundreds of the hippest toy geeks drank beer, quoted Tron, and drooled over the hundreds of limited edition toys. The line to get in started way before the party kicked off, and insanity ensued from seven o’clock onward. In the back of the room were the rows of Zagoran customs submitted by fans including a couple of my favorites by Matt Walker, Ben Seto, and Shannon O’Brien. On hand to judge the comp were Super7 founder Brian Flynn, and Gargamel master sculptor Kiyoka Ikeda and painter Koji Harmon. Koji even brought some brand new custom Tokoji Seijin and Zag figures to show off his fine work. The rest of the night was a blur of chocolate cake, Super7 star Glenn Pogue’s moustache, and a few fans picking up their lucky bags (thanks Sunny for reporting)! I went home with a sugar crash, and the knowledge that I’ll never be more than just second place on Joust. Not a bad way to celebrate one of the coolest shops in San Francisco.
