As the name suggests, Sugarcraft is a group art show that revolves around sweet, tasty treats. Curated by Wynter Whiteside, the exhibit will showcase 50 artists as they explore the theme of “indulgence in the arts.” She explains :
Many of the participating artists represent the contemporary adoption of DIY practices as a response to mass production and consumption, as well as the fading line between contemporary fine art and fine craft. Using traditional or uncommon materials, including refined sugar, all encourage indulgence in eye candy and a playful conversation about the various aspects of taste.
Wynter Whiteside is also one of the artists in the show which takes place at the Kasia Kay Art Projects Gallery. Opening reception will be on June 27, and the show runs into August 9.
I know the show is still a month away, but I love anything that is related to sweets. I’m looking forward to Heidi Kenney’s work. I love her Yummy Breakfast and Yummy Donut keychains. I’m trying to limit my blind box purchases, but I always have room for another donut. Here are a few preview pictures to whet your appetite.
