I’m a regular reader of Failblog, but mostly because I like to feel better about my position in the food chain. So, I was a bit surprised when I saw that someone had submitted an image of Sucklord’s Gay Empire Stormtrooper as a ‘FAIL’ yesterday. Of course, it was under the title, and I quote, ‘Storm Tropper Fail’, which is a FAIL unto itself, but I digress.

I venture that everyone here knows the difference between a toy, a toy created for the purpose of art, and well, a Stormtrooper, but seeing Sucklord’s work declared a ‘FAIL’ reinforced the fact that my own frame of reference and awareness is pretty starkly different from a majority of the world. Maybe I don’t have to be so scared of a Mighty Muggs invasion after all. ‘Designer toys’ still live in a nebulous world between ‘art movement’ and ‘plaything bastardization’. And ‘huh?’

You can follow the link and vote accordingly, and I’d like to think that even Mr. Suck himself would embrace the suckiness of it all. While the Sucklord’s stuff is awesomely bizarre and surreal, it’s far, far from a FAIL, and I’d be lying if I didn’t feel a little more secure in keeping this whole thing pure for a little while longer. Don’t tell anyone.

I also read LOLcats.

Pretty much. It’s also fail because it’s a pink overpriced hand made Star Wars stormtrooper targeted to the man child demograph. Go figure.

Yeah, some people just don’t get it…I’m not as into his new stuff (the die-head series) and his plan to invent his own characters is almost certainly a fail (bc the whole appeal of his work is his deconstruction and ironic take on the whole genre of collecting, sci-fi, etc), but this figure was an incredible WIN….i bought up 5 just to give out as presents.
