Stuff Your Stocking With a Lonely BJD Ballmer by Patrick Chow

action figures, vinyl

To your average action figure enthusiast, the ball-joint is the apex of hope and accomplishment. To Patrick Chow, his ball-jointed, monoped X’Mas Ballmer symbolizes the darkest kind of holiday-induced loneliness. It’s giving me the SADs already.

Chow is hailed as a ‘ball-joint’ artist, but this Ballmer is deceptively simple, though even a single ball-joint articulates the figure far beyond the range of motion of your average art toy. Decked out in a removable stocking cap and one big, red shoe, the Ballmer “looks through the windows where other families and friends gather and share, but the only thing he sees are glittering lights of Christmas tree reflected on his golden, icy eyes…” I can’t help but think that playing up the ‘loneliness’ angle on your general Superman action figure would have a huge appeal to your general Superman collector (and I lovingly speak from experience). Chow and g-999 might be on to something here.

The X’Mas Ballmer is deceptively huge at 13″ tall, will find itself released at the end of November (just in time to depress you for the holiday season), and will cost about $50.
