ToyCyte’s bro in Berlin, Stor Dubiné, has 9 entries in Aarting’s Blankies contest. I got a huge outpouring of inquiries in my inbox asking when and where folks could get Stor’s Debbie Harry and Donna Summer custom Munnys. Well, as of now, those are still one-offs, but…you can help see some of his unique style and pop music modelling applied to a Blankie production figure. Voting has officially opened and you can vote as many times as you want, in a slightly wonky scheme that could be twisted to benefit the Sanjayas of the art toy scene. There is a mix of designs, definitely along the spectrum of the 1-5 you can give them. Stor’s submissions (all 5’s in my admittedly biased opinion!) include: The Little Shocked Caterpillar, The Little Jane (a tribute to Bette Davis), Blankieratu the Vampir, Blankiemime (a tribute to Marcel Marceau), Blankie Jones (a tribute to Grace Jones), and Blankie Pop (what else but a tribute to Michael Jackson).
The official rules:
- Each button equals 1 vote point, allowing you to place up to 5 votes per design.
- Each design lets you vote once every 30 minutes. You can check the time remaining on a design by clicking on a button within 30 minutes of having placed a vote for that design.
- You can vote as many times as you like, for as many designs as you like.
- Clicking on the design or the designer’s name will take you to the forum where you can view the designer’s full model sheet submission.
- Entries will be randomly reorganized once a day to insure fairness of design placement on this voting page.
- The design with the most voting points wins the opportunity to have their toy produced and promoted worldwide.
