Sonic Enters 3D

Sonic the Hedgehog has always had a special place in my heart. In the way of corporate mascots, he was always my favorite. I was a Sega fan over Nintendo (I root for the underdog!) and Sonic has become such a cool looking character and an icon. Which is why it’s about time for First 4 Figures to give him the full sculpt treatment. Stepping out of the 2.5D and going a full 3D, First 4 is working on a line of statues based on Sonic. The first one is him in a classic pose standing on a psychadelic base of green grass and yellow and red checks taken right from the first level of Green Hill Zone. Ahhh memories. This figure is well sculpted with clean lines, but is seems like a slightly boring figure for such an animated character. Hopefully this is just a preview of things to come. I’m also hoping to see Dr. Robotnik and perhaps Knuckles in later models. Sonic stands 12 inches and is priced at $99.99. He’s due out in September, and pre-order is available here.
