Slofoot Steps Out at Monster Mayhem

custom, events

When I first saw this, I had to do a spit-take, like dang, there’s a Munny under that mop? But all made sense when I saw that Slofoot’s handler was none other than custom creature-crafter Mike Slobot (previously profiled here). [UPDATE: Mike just emailed that there is, in fact, no Munny, in this original work.] Mike created Slofoot for the Monster Mayhem group art show at The Gallery at East Atlanta Tattoo using found objects, faux fur, household items, poseable lucite arms, stationary lucite legs and traditional artist materials. The story goes like…

Contrary to popular legend, the Bigfoot is not a menace to society out to cause harm to humans. In fact, in the late 1950’s, a crack team of scientists, concerned with the overall welfare of global forests, responded to the startling rate that trees were being cut down. Using state of the art technology, the scientists created robot tree herders to help bring the forests of the world back to life. These robots, in urban legends called Bigfoot, Yeti, Sasquatch, and the like are continuing that very job today, tending to the world’s trees, quietly protecting a tremendous, if limited, global resource.

Slofoot will be available for purchase after the show. See more great pics of Slofoot here. You can also contact Mike via his website for commission work.
