Mono Skwak

I was going to append the titular “Toys We Want” to this post, but thought it might make the title too long. That doesn’t change the fact that I want this 12″ $100 vinyl beauty. Here’s what I know now that I didn’t know an hour ago: Last year at SDCC, Buenos Aires artist Juliana Pedemonte (aka Colorblok) released her Mono figure produced by Kaching Brands. The year before, Dave Quiles of Me Llamo Jellyfish released an Überbot exclusive Ectotron Mono. These are part of something called the Mono Artist Jam Series which features designs from 30+ artists, the latest of whom is SKWAK. His awesome creation is available from Fugitive Toys.

Collecting vinyl has made my life more colorful. I’m not sure on the story behind the use of “mono” as the moniker of these figures given their vibrant hues, but I’m increasingly drawn to figures with colorful palettes. Given that my wardrobe consists mostly of black and grey, this has been an awakening. I wonder if color will next spread to my clothes? (Doesn’t seem to have had an impact on the goth guy from Toy Break…)

“Toys Jason wants so bad he’ll sell his dog if he had one” isn’t much shorter of a title, either…
