Sket One Dolbee and ATP Events

events, plastic

Sket One is heading across the pond to do up a solo show in conjunction with the ATP Festival events October 30-31st in London and November 1st in Birmingham. The shows consist of customs and pieces of artwork along with prints. During each event, Sket will be doing live paintings on 5 x 5 canvases for display and purchase. He will also have tons of other merchandise from clothing to books to stickers to USB drives and tin iPod cases.

Of course, as is the case with all ATP shows, the resident artist will release a Dolbee figure (above left) that is only available at the show. I’m digging the greens he used in this Dolbee. Sket’s Dolbee follows figures by MAD, Kathie Olivas and Michael Motorcycle. I got an artist proof of MAD’s Dolbee and was a little disappointed by the hollow lightweight plastic feel of the figure. Not sure if that was due to it being an AP because otherwise I love the retro-styling of this platform. I am particularly digging Sket’s Dolbee and maybe he’ll sell some in his store after the event.
Besides fine urban art and toys, The London events (entitled Release The Bat; 10/31 is already sold out) feature the musical stylings of Shellac, Les Savy Fav, OM, (San Francisco’s own) Wooden Shjips, Pissed Jeans and Lightning Bolt. Check it out if you’re nearby!
