Last weekend I was lucky enough to squeeze myself through the hipster masses and check out the new Shepard Fairey (of Obey fame) show happening at the Shooting Gallery & White Walls in San Francisco.
There was a very good reason why the kids were lined up around the block. The show was f*cking brilliant! Even though my pockets were lined with lint rather than money rolls, I did explore the option of buying something…anything. But the show was like 95% sold out. Alas. But with the release of the new book E. Pluribus Venom documenting the show of the same name that took place last year at the Jonathan LeVine gallery in NYC, it allows me to possess just a bit of the wonder and magic that is Fairey’s new work, much of which was reflected at this San Francisco show.
The beautifully printed book by Gingko Press really highlights the multi layered, beautifully hued style of his new screen print on collage work. A stunning departure and growth from the man who brought us Obey Andre the Giant. You can get yours , signed by Fairey, here.
