In early 2006, I needed a unique wedding gift and I turned to Etsy, which was debuting its Alchemy service. It was one of those rare instances where fate deals you an ace and you see something you want right on the front page. To make a long story short, I ordered up a set of two customized Cursters and didn’t connect back up with Erin Currie until I interviewed her here. After a long gestation period, a production run of Erin’s Cursters will finally be available in less than a week. Produced by Erick Scarecrow’s Esc-Toy imprint, the first manufactured Curster plush figure is a Yeti with four faces. Each Yeti is 9.5 inches tall and each face style is limited to 375 pieces. There will be a release party on Thursday, August 21st from 6-8PM hosted by ROBOTlove in MN, and the otherwise shy Erin will be on hand to answer questions. After the party, the Curster camp will issue a press release with more pictures and pricing. Of course I’m a brat (aka inquisitive reporter) and had to ask about the prices in advance. I don’t want to ruin the fun of their reveal, so I’ll just say that anyone who felt priced-out by a Curster custom should be able to afford to get their hands on one of these. Congrats Curster!
