Finally, someone’s found an intelligent use for those damned spiral-rainbow-glow pens that I get handed at Toy Fair every freakin’ year! They’re impractical to write with, way too distracting to do anything constructive with, and probably wasteful to some ridiculous degree. And yet – it feels so hard to throw them out.
Fear not, as Scott Sauer over at Scottoons has again put his exceptional and inspiring recycling skills to work and created the Munbot – a silver, rusty Munny with real electrical, working parts, and subsequently revitalized my interest in creating custom toys.
It’s also very worth mentioning that his site is full of great little monster sculptures, from general monsters to an ornery batch of deformed gingerbread men. Best of all, he’s working on a 1:1 scale raygun out of more recycled parts that I’d never think would look so awesome stuck together. Keep ‘em comin’, Scott!

Dustin Cantrell is working on a Plasma Dunny, similar concept and stellar execution for custoMONDAY. Love the combination of vinyl and electricity…

Wow, thanks for the cool write-up, Mr. Collin David! And don’t you worry… more recycled goodness is to come. All my pieces that are made from would-be rubbish becomes part of my Trashy Customs series. More robots and rayguns are in the works.
Thanks for the kind words!
