Scott Tolleson and Gary Ham at VTN Winter 08

designers, wood

OK, it’s been a long day and I’ve got a lot more to blog, but I’m going to leave you til Monday with a slew of posts tagged VTN 08 and two artists with whom I had a great conversation ultimately leading to a “we are not alone in our neurosis” catharsis: Scott Tolleson and Gary Ham. Both of these guys are largely responsible for ToyCyte’s creation of a wood category with Scott’s Doc Von Block and Gary’s Tinky (both seen in these photos). Gary was showing the paint samples of the new colorways of Doc, and said slightly smaller (about 5 inches) versions should be ready around April. While the x-ray colorway seems to be in the lead as a fan favorite and my personal pick is the green/ill colorway, Scott’s top choice is the natural. And speaking of awesome colorways, Gary’s got the exclusive VTN pink and black Carrot Shake Jake variant on hand. If you’re hitting VTN tomorrow, stop by their booth and pick these up pronto! And stay tuned for an interview and opportunities to win some good wood.

Good job profiling these two great artists and really cool guys too. Gary’s a local Phoenician like myself and i love seeing the Phoenix art scene get some national rep, and yes Jeremy i’m posting this from work, and no it’s still not funny.

I promise some sort of interview with these guys if they’re into it! About to post some more VTN info. I still think you posting the winning fart story http://www.toycyte.com/win-free-gas-for-life-from-touma from work is kind of hilarious, but yeah, maybe not “funny haha” so much as funny “slightly tragic.”

“Slightly tragic” haha, cubicle life indeed.
