Yesteday, I blogged about Toy2R and Colette sponsoring a children’s charity event in Paris, and thought, we need something like that here. Right on cue, I spied the above flier on Krystaux’s Flickr. Rock the Future is a multimedia event curated by Carlos Torres and Sadie Woods of Fluxcore to benefit Rock for Kids. Rock for Kids is a Chicago-based nonprofit offering free music education to underprivileged homeless youth. It also provides support, inspiration and assistance to children through the joys of music.

Rock the Future celebrates music with a handful of live bands and several DJs. However, what will interest Windy City area toy fans most is the featured artists. Carlos and Sadie managed to gather up an impressive roster of people who understand that toys can be art. The lineup includes critter-customizer Lana Crooks and photographers Brian McCarty, Krystaux, Greg Easton and AltS (who Sunny just profiled here) all of whom reverse-engineer 3D art into 2D masterpieces.

Get Rocked on Thursday June 19th at the Debonair Social Club in Chicago, IL from 9PM-2AM. For more information, head over to the Rock The Future page on Fluxcore.
