Phu!’s Sonic

custom, vinyl

We’ve seen a lot of great customs from Phu!, and this one may be my favorite. Can you even guess what the original platform toy is? The Sonic Space Cruiser is his custom Sharky for the upcoming ToyQube exhibition in New York. If you think about it, the Sharky makes the perfect rocket ship. His Space Cruiser sports a purple and bronze colorway, and the lightning bolts on the wings are a great detail. Materials used include brass rivets, broken toy parts, cardboard, cable ties, and plastic bottle caps.

My favorite part of this custom is the 2″ rebel pilot. I love the tiny silver visor and matching gloves. Take a look at the detailed pictures on his blog. Even the pilot’s seat is well-constructed.

I'm a nerd who loves music, movies, graphic novels, and of course toys. I grew up in Los Angeles, and I currently live in the non-plastic part of Orange County. I'm a sucker for anything that is little and cute: plushies, Dunnys, Smorkin' Labbits, zipper pulls. My collection is dominated by Kozik and Uglydolls, and my latest obsession is IWG/Rocket World.
