Phu!’s Maxx

custom, vinyl

I usually don’t post on a Friday night, but I had to share Phu!’s latest work of art. Maxx is his 8″ Moody for “Mooood Swings,” a custom exhibition organized by Lift. If you want to see this show, you have to be in the Detroit area. Maxx is an intricate space pod that comes with its own 2″ rebel pilot. Along with his usual tools of brass rivets, cable ties, and clamps, he also used a gasaphon acrylic sphere, a fancy term for those capsules you get out of toy vending machines. (He was kind enough to provide the wikipedia link in his blog.)

Phu! is one of the most prolific custom artists in the business. If you keep track of his blog, you’ll know that he participates in a lot of custom shows. I’m glad that his work is seen in a lot of venues. Everytime I see his custom, I want to have a sci-fi marathon.

I'm a nerd who loves music, movies, graphic novels, and of course toys. I grew up in Los Angeles, and I currently live in the non-plastic part of Orange County. I'm a sucker for anything that is little and cute: plushies, Dunnys, Smorkin' Labbits, zipper pulls. My collection is dominated by Kozik and Uglydolls, and my latest obsession is IWG/Rocket World.
