Makkinoso sent us these photos of his figures for this weekend’s Resin Collective show at Red Hot Robot. The figures are coming all the way from Patrick’s small town in Italy to take up residence in the Arizona desert. Bandana Spike (“the boy without fear”) and Flap Jack are customs from Makkinoso’s latest Italian show, and Evil Spike is brand new for the event. All of the pieces will be for sale. The artist estimates that Evil Spike will sell for about $50 USD.

I appreciate alot of the toys on this website. I wish I could encourage alot of these creators to take an art class or something. I see alot of potential but they lack skill. These figurines don’t pull it off and the lack of criticism is helping flood the market with these poorly designed toys.

Ed–I don’t love everything always, but often things grow on me. Take Le Merde for instance. Some people think his stuff is shit and others think it is “the shit.” How do you explain it…just differences in aesthetic appreciation. I totally hear your point though. I’m really honestly enjoying all this resin right now. The toy scene once again feels like a community. Maybe the resin scene lacks the art stars (for now), but by extension also the pretension and high price tags!

The point is this: If you see a toy made by “Le Merde” or “Hello Brute” or one of the others “main” artist all is very cool…If you don’t know the “new” artist all his job are shit…You talk about a Market” full of “poorly designed toys”, but how many hand-made toy-artis do you know???
Every kind of art is good only if you like it…
