Following up on their popular ‘Multiple Personalities’ show, Detroit’s Lift Gallery will be holding ‘Multiple Personalities 2’ on May 10th – an open format show that accepts both toy and toy-related two-dimensional artworks. Judging by the last show they had (pictured here), they’ve had some pretty notable customizers rockin’ those sexy Ikea shelves pretty hard.
After a couple weeks of sending in unanswered inquiries, I’ve been unable to ascertain whether or not the call for artists is still open, but the show is limited to 40 participants working in a non-miniature, under 20” scale. Try giving Liftshows@gmail.com an e-mail, and see if you have more luck than me in eliciting a response. This is good stuff, Lift – spread it around beyond MySpace and message boards. Sometimes I think that toy show promotion could do a lot of good by extending itself beyond our insular community and seeking out new artists existing outside of KidRobot’s forums.
So far, I’ve only been able to spot DLuXaRT’s Kaiju Icebat submission for the show, but there are many more sure to come. Rock that pink airbrush, DLuX!
