Mr. Toast Goes Goth for SDCC 08

plush

Back at the beginning of May, I had the pleasure of interviewing Dan Goodsell about breakfast-themed plush toys. The piece was angled around a photo of Mr. Toast and Brinke Stevens, which all these weeks later still manages to fill me with delight. Well, it looks like Dan may need to revisit the legendary scream queen with his latest incarnation of a fanged and caped Mr. Toast. As a succubus in Nightmare Sisters, perhaps Brinke could impart wisdom upon this army of vampire bread. (It’s sentences like that, which make me love this gig.)

Anyhow, during the interview, Dan dropped a hint that “Mr. Toast might be dressing up as a certain Count…” and that he’d be doing a “limited edition Mr. Toast monster plush in conjunction with Gallery 1988 in San Francisco.” Well thanks to a heads up from eagle-eyes Andy of TRE and courtesy of Dan’s Flickr, I can show you Count Toastula and his secret ally Monster Toast (names not official). The Count will be available in an edition of 1000 slices for $10 a piece for SDCC ‘08 (but if you can’t make it, contact Dan, and he’ll sell you one personally). Monster Toast will make his debut at Gallery 1988 in an edition of 100 slices. Continued kudos to Dan for keeping prices affordable for fans.
