ToyCyte: Toy Culture Collected

Mark Nagata has created a new ape head for a figure in the Space Troopers series from Toygraph posted today on their blog. The figure has a Planet of the Apes meets Mars Attacks look. Mark was asked to contribute the head and says he went with an ape knowing the “fondness the Japanese have for them (especially in human suits).” Toygraph turned Mark’s sketch (above right) into the 5-inch prototype figure (above left).  Mark also chose the name Mizaru-1, which he explains as the See No Evil, Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil Monkey with Buddhist roots and a “-1″ added on for sci-fi appeal.
