I’m a day late on this news because I was all alone here for Memorial Day. By now everyone and his brother has covered this, but you’re going to hear it from me anyway. As blogged previously, I haven’t been that excited about many of the mini-figure series coming out. That’s not the case with MINDstyle’s SCAVENGERS series by Kathie Olivas. You know you’ve got a good blind-box series when you look at your potential options and think, “There is not a single one of these figures I’d be bummed if I got.”

The display ratio of the Series 1 figures is:

  • 3/15 MASAO
  • 3/15 WINSTON
  • 3/15 BEAUMONT
  • 3/15 DEXTER
  • 2/15 AUBRIE
  • 1/15 NIGEL
  • ???/??? SECRET (There are only 300 randomly inserted in displays)
  • ???/??? Select retailers will carry the color variants and exclusives

The price (SRP $11.99 regular/ $15.00 exclusives) seems a little high compared to the typical $8-$10 Kidrobot and Toy2R mini-series figures sell for. However, this could have something to do with demand for Kathie Olivas’ work (her Scavengers paintings were quick to sell out). Additionally, MINDstyle is packaging the figures in a flip-top box closed by a magnet.

These figures are set to drop June 20th, with an array of exclusives starting a monthly sliding release schedule coinciding with SDCC. Stores who will carry the exclusives include: Cardboard Spaceship (Santa Cruz), De La Barracuda Shop (Hollywood), Dragon Con (Atlanta), FX Show (Orlando), myplasticheart (New York), Rivet Gallery (Ohio), Rotofugui (Chicago), 3D Retro (Online), 1045 Showroom (Online), Secret Fresh (Manila), Sugar Vinyl (Taiwan), Toy Tokyo (New York) and VTN (Pasadena). MINDstyle also revealed that limited DIY versions of MASAO, AUBRIE and DEXTER will be available at select retailers.
