You may know the name Mike Burnett. He is responsible for designing and conceptualizing the Neighborwood Blank Wooden DIY toy Sculpture produced by Bigshot Toyworks that was released this past May. But did you know that Mike Burnett makes himself a pretty mean plushie? I randomly found his stuffed genius while engaging in some major time suckage at etsy.com.
Currently he has three pieces for sale on his etsy page. Mr. Mcballbuster and the O.C. Poser both are “average joe schmoe millionaire plush, hand-made limited edition series, only 8 made, 13″ tall” for $40.00 each. He also has the Boy Tokyo. This handmade and handpainted wood sculpture was made exclusively for Toy Tokyo of NYC and is six inches tall. There are only ten of the limited edition run of Boy Tokyo and he costs $50. If you are intested in any of these, keep in mind they are in very limited quanities.
So who is Mike Burnett?
“He is arguably the world’s twenty-seventh great tinkerer of moveable, wooden, toy-like sculptures and perhaps can even be accused of inventing characters for his own amusement. Some question whether he really undertakes his craft at all with one wife, three children, two dogs and a full time job at a major greeting card conglomerate. Burnett was recently named “Father of Little Wooden Figurines” by the International Society of Comparative Woods and continues paving the way for ground-breaking tinkering of succeeding generations.”
